Third Book on South Carolina's Criminal History Author Rita Y. Shuler [see the CLEWS interview] has penned a third book about murders in the Palmetto state. Her new book is Small-Town Slayings in South Carolina[Amazon; B&N], and she has details on her website.
Buffalo's Bike Path Rapist Profiled in a New Book For an astonishing twenty-five years, off and on, a man who lived near Buffalo, New York raped and murdered women on the area's bike paths. The horrifying case of that rare stranger-on-stranger serial sexual predator with a long career is told in a new book, Bike Path Rapist: A Cop's Firsthand Account of Catching the Killer Who Terrorized a Community [Amazon; B&N].
One of the officers involved in the extraordinarily long and complicated investigation is Detective Dennis Delano, who has a byline along with author Jeff Schober. The book, published by the Lyons Press, looks particularly promising for fans both of police procedural stories and exoneration cases. As the publisher remarks, the case culminated in a conviction -- two, in fact, one of them wrongful.
