This is the first true crime book that has something we could call a cover (that I can find - one Covid project of mine was to find the earliest true crime books written in English.)
This book was printed in 1704 in London. The original is at the New York Public Library. The book is The Triumph of God's Revenge... on Murder by John Reynolds of Exeter, England.
So there it is, in red, white, and black.
The flag of true crime, the colors of murder.
Flesh and blood and ink.
