Hypereides was his name. High-PARA-deeze. He is generally known to history for his contributions to Greek political life. One can find biographies and articles about Hypereides that do not even mention his most beautiful and famous client - or the amazing closing argument he gave during her jury trial - an argument no attorney has ever dared to repeat!
Her name was Phryne. FRY-knee. She is known to history as the world's first super model. Sadly, she is almost forgotten. Although her likeness appears in thousands of museums across the world, and a statue of Phryne is on the north face of the Louvre, the one and only video on YouTube about her is barely intelligible and does not even say her name right, and it goes downhill from there.
