The measures of opinion that I've begun posting in the upper right corner have offered interesting results.
When queried about the guilt or innocence of Lizzie Borden, 172 readers of this website weighed in. The hangman found a friend in 82% of respondents, while 18% thought Fall River's maiden innocent.
The results of the inquiry into opinions on the Bruno Hauptmann-Charles Lindbergh Jr. case were more surprising. Of 142 CLEWS readers with an opinion, the results (rounded off) were:
34% - Guilty
31% - Somehow involved
35% - Railroaded
That surprises me because the man was caught with the ransom money, and the circumstantial chain wound pretty tightly around him, in my opinion. And yet the case still has aggressive advocates on either side, as evidenced by these poll results and some of the comments left on a brief CLEWS piece about Hauptmann. Another case that still provokes heated discussion is the matter of Caril Fugate. The CLEWS post about her is one of the most steadily popular pages on this site. Now it's your turn to give your take with the click of a mouse. Which statement comes closest to your opinion? Weigh in!
